CANDLE CARE

A Better Burn Starts With a Little Care

A few simple habits can make a big difference in how your candle burns. From the first light to the last, proper wick trimming, burn time, and a little attention along the way can help you get the best experience from your Fire Mountain candle.

THE BASICS

Start With the Basics

A good burn doesn't require much work. A few simple habits before and during each burn will help your candle perform the way it was designed to.

Trim the Wick

Before each burn, trim the wick to about ¼ inch or just slightly less. A properly trimmed wick helps maintain a steady flame and encourages a cleaner burn with minimal soot.

Give It Time

Allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface, especially during the first burn. A full melt pool helps your candle burn more evenly throughout its life.

Know When to Stop

Keep each burn to about 3–4 hours. Longer burns can create excess heat and may cause the wick to become unstable.

THE FIRST BURN

The First Burn Matters

The first burn helps set the stage for the burns that follow. Give the wax enough time to melt evenly across the surface, reaching close to the edges of the vessel before extinguishing the candle.

Let the Melt Pool Develop

Give the wax enough time to melt evenly across the surface and reach close to the edges of the vessel. Extinguishing a candle too soon, especially during the first burn, can encourage uneven burning later.

Keep an Eye on the Flame

During the burn, keep an eye on the flame. If it becomes unusually large, begins flickering excessively, or produces visible soot, extinguish the candle, allow it to cool, and trim the wick before relighting.

BURN SAFELY

A Few Things Worth Remembering

Candles are meant to be enjoyed, but an open flame always deserves a little attention. These simple precautions help protect you, your home, and the people and pets around you.

Never Leave It Unattended

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish it before leaving the room or going to sleep.

Keep It Clear

Burn candles away from curtains, bedding, paper, decorations, and anything else that can catch fire. Give the candle plenty of open space while it burns.

Choose a Stable Surface

Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, vents, fans, and areas where it may be bumped or knocked over.

Keep Away From Children and Pets

Burn candles out of reach of children and pets, and never place them where curious hands, paws, or tails can reach the flame or hot vessel.

WAX MELTS

Enjoy the Fragrance Without the Flame

Wax melts offer an easy way to enjoy your favorite Fire Mountain fragrances without a candle flame. A little attention to your warmer, its placement, and the amount of wax you use will help keep things simple and safe.

Use an Approved Wax Warmer

Use wax melts only in a warmer designed specifically for melting scented wax. Follow the warmer manufacturer's instructions, and never heat wax melts directly on a stove, hot plate, or other unintended heat source.

Don't Overfill the Warmer

Use only as much wax as your warmer is designed to hold. Overfilling can cause melted wax to spill or overflow as it warms.

Keep Water Out

Do not add water, fragrance oil, or other liquids to the melted wax. Use the wax melt as provided and allow it to cool completely before handling or removing it.

Treat It Like a Heat Source

Place the warmer on a stable, heat-resistant surface and keep it away from children, pets, drafts, and anything that could be damaged by heat. Never leave an operating warmer unattended.

Room & linen sprays

A Little Shake Goes a Long Way

Our room and linen sprays are an easy way to add fragrance wherever you want a quick refresh. A few simple precautions can help protect fabrics and surfaces while making sure you get the best experience from every spray.

Shake Before Each Use

Give the bottle a good shake before each use to help keep the fragrance evenly distributed throughout the spray.

Test Before Spraying

Before using on fabrics or other surfaces, test the spray on a small, inconspicuous area first and allow it to dry. Materials and finishes can react differently, and fragrance oils may affect some surfaces or fabrics.

Spray With a Little Care

Avoid spraying directly onto skin, pets, food, finished wood, painted surfaces, or other delicate materials. Use caution around floors and hard surfaces, as overspray may leave them slippery.

Keep It Safely Stored

Keep the spray out of reach of children and pets. Avoid contact with eyes and do not ingest. Store the bottle securely away from excessive heat or open flame.
